    "Pleasant enough" (107740255)

Insufficient explanation of the working of the TV and Freeview box, it that was what it was.

"Friendly in a "muddle through" kind of a way. " (107346422)

Nice quiet location and a very attractive old barn. Friendly staff although rather disorganised and the check in process is rather cumbersom. They forgot to ask us if we wanted breakfast!

Just the disorganisation really. The whole impression is one of being rather muddled. The swimming pool could do with being a little warmer aswell!!

"Very pleasant hotel in good location, and available to very reasonable price" (107221524)

Excellent value, friendly staff, unusual to have gym/pool in such a small hotel and at such a reasonable price

Only minor criticism was having to decide at 5pm one day whether we wanted full English breakfast, continental breakfast or no breakfast, and at what time. We could understand why - as there were few guests - but it was a minor inconvenience

"Pleasant helpful staff - but niggling irritating problems." (107271000)

    Friendly staff - pleasant room.

Wi fi wouldn't work for me on either my PC or my Mac no matter how I tried and the main reason for choosing your location. And there was no assistance available. There was the most irritating low vibrating hum - 10 minutes on/10 minutes off - for the entire duration of my stay, day and night. The bathroom could have done with a better clean.

"Good value for money. disappoined reception and therefore gym closed at 2pm on sunday - so i couildnt use facilities" (108079869)

Good value, nice setting, reasonable quality rooms

bed very hard, room very warm, and as on ground floor couldnt leave window open over night for security. bathroom not as clean as it could have been - hair on the floor in the corners!internet in common areas, but these were all shut as it was a sunday eve - so bar / place to sit out side the room.

    "Excellent" (99560064)

Fantastic location, close to both Cheltenham & Gloucester although it does feel like you are in the countryside. Excellent well maintained large rooms.

"The staff were most helpful, courteous and friendly. It was raining on the morning of our departure and with the rooms in a separate building across a courtyard we gor rather wet going for breakfast. Breakfast is extra and whilst our full english breakfast was ok, I think, if we stay there again, we will skip breakfast and make do with the coffee and biscuits provided in the bedroom. The breakfast room had the TV on all the time, with singers who are obviously in love with themselves performing indifferent pop songs as we ate. (I like to choose what I watch and hear on telly, and when!) The breakfast times, for Sunday morning, were 8-10. I'd have liked more flexibility. We had to decide which sort of breakfast, if any, we wanted the evening before and book it. We therefore ordered breakfast before we had our evening meal. When it came to eating it, we hadn't very good appetites and had no time to do it justice." (97486719)

Independent entrance to appartment. Privacy. Spacious. Clean. Comfortable.

You could see daylight through the entrance door.

"The manager was extremeley helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him. I had a late check in and was delayed even further because of an accident on M5. Even at midnight for a check in the manager couldn't do enough for me. Excellent service." (97096071)

The room was spacious and clean in a lovely setting.

"Our stay at the Dark Barn Lodge was wonderful. I cannot praise the owners, Julian and Linda, and their great staff including Claudio, Christina, and Sarah, highly enough. They were attentive to all of our needs and helpful in every respect. Gale and Steve" (97227952)

Clean, comfortable, orderly, full attention to needs of the vacationer

  • 8/10 Richard ( Group of adult friends)

from Limerick , IE  on  April 9, 2008

"The location is a few miles outside of Gloucester, but the flexibility of the staff operated taxi service made this a non issue. There is a fitness hall which is very well equipped for a relatively small hotel and in addition an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi all of which add to make this a very attractive option for a quiet retreat." (97485126)

Excellent staff who were very accommodating, flexible and of course friendly. Nothing was a problem.

Rooms were very small and no one came in to clean\tidy the room in between the two nights of our stay.

  • 5/10 Anonymous ( Young couple)

    on  March 26, 2008

The room was clean and tidy

The fact that the gym and pool did not open on the Sunday morning until 10am

  • 7/10 Michael ( Mature couple)

    Breakfast quite good value

When I walked in the room the first thing I noticed was how nice and warm it was. The room was decorated in a very tasteful manner and the bathroom sparkling clean.

  • 8/10 Steve ( Mature couple)

"Overall - apart from a disrupted sleep due to noisy neighbours - excellent" (97687498)

It was clean, spacious, very comfortable, welcoming staff excellent

Lack of good soundproofing - noisy people in adjacent room at 3 o'clock in the morning, showering, extractor fan buzzing ...

"Would have liked to have had treatments available on the saturday, but no one available. Everything else was great and we would definately come again for a break." (99600642)

Very comfortable accomodation. Leisure facilities good and staff very friendly.

First night was lovely and peaceful but the second night we were disturbed by some late night revellers outside our room.

  • 9/10 Tony ( Solo leisure traveller)

    from Felmersham , United Kingdom;GB  on  March 19, 2007

"This hotel has rooms of an excellent standard. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. It is in an excellent location for Gloucester, Cheltenham, Chepstow and the Forest of Dean. The only draw back was the need to travel a short distance to eat at a choice of local pubs or resteraunts. Even then the owner insisted that he take me and pick me up rather than get a cab. The attitude to and delivery of customer service could not be faulted." (99102404)

Excellent standard of rooms. The customrer service from all staff could not have been more helpful or friendly.
