"Fairly good, the room was clean and quiet. The staff on duty were very helpful " (107292677)

Limited parking and due to there being a alarge wedding at the hotel this was a problem. No air conditioning which at this time of year can be a problem

"Would not stay again, we have stayed in much nicer hotels for less money. hotel was fairly clean but staff were not really resident friendly. Room was clean. " (107338168)

No really outstanding good points to speak about hotel was not the average 4 star that we are used to staying in.

staff not very polite or helpful. Evening meal was not edible only choice of 3 starters, main and dessert, would not recommend this hotel to any friends.

Very pleasant friendly staff. Manager very friendly. Breakfast excellent. All persons met were willing to talk socialy.

Fire alarm at 01:25 approx but not the hotels fault. (Oh, and Sheffield Wednesday lost 4-0 :-( and again cannot blame the hotel for this)

"We had a thoroughly enjoyable week-end, our daughter studied in Plymouth 15 years ago and it was our first visit back since then, so we knew where the Copthorne was situated and chose it for that reason. It was a really comfortable hotel, which could, I suppose have some attention to the deco in the rooms and bathrooms, but overall we enjoyed and we would certainly return hopefully in the near future." (97012562)

Comfort, cleanliness, breakfast, close proximity to everywhere.

"Generally when i book a hotel i prefer it to be as near as possible to where i will be visiting, the copthorne plymouth is an ideal place to stop if you are spending time in the city, its close to the city centre, the railway station, shops and not far from the actual seafront itself, perfect in that respect. Also i found the staff very friendly and helpful." (97620197)

Very clean, modern and the added bonus of satellite tv in our room!

Cannot think of anything i disliked really

The reason I booked the Hotel was because there was a Swimming Pool and when we got there on Friday, were told that it was no longer available, our room was not serviced until late on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday morning the breakfast service was poor.

"I would like to have known where exactly the hotel and room were; ie beside a Sainsbury's car par above a bar/restaurant (presumably it was smokers standing outside that were noisy). The room was very crowded with furniture, there was insufficient hanging space/drawers that functioned properly. Lighting in the bathroom was poor." (97848637)

Very noisy. Especially outside the hotel (was that Sainsbury's air conditioning that made that racket)- but room opposite shut very noisily too.

We stayed two nights weeknend break and the room was not serviced i had to ring down to reception at 4.00pm to get t.bags and towels 2 no champgne cocktails as your literature. 3 the receptin staff were less than helpful when asked about buses they replied the bus stop is outside and coul not tell us anything else and when we asked about attractions in plymouth to see there was no literature for us to use, after all this is a tourist hotel as well as business.4 when we checked out and went down to the car park to go home we found out that we needed a token exit all the staff seemed to want is our money no helpat all we had to go back to the first floor reception to get a token. ialso appreciate that new staff do have to learn the ropes and am very willing to wait while they fight there way thro the computer but in ahotel of this supposed quality ther should have been a senior member of staff to suprevise and a receptionist shpould also be good at english the on did not speak english very well which vaused problems" (97711492)

"Whether the room was air conditioned and if so if your adjust it, as the room was far too hot for us. How quiet the room was" (97229086)

    Central position to city centre

Cleanliness of room left a lot to be desired with huge stains on bedroom carpet and sheet looking like it needed a very good wash. Having the door knocked at 8.15 a.m. when we were there only one night i.e. checking out by 11 - so why not have a list of people already checked out with the housekeeper and clean those rooms first and not disturb guests at such an early hour

The quality of the bathroom was poor. The shower didn't really function very well as a shower - it was more like a tap- it was just one big jet of water which was so powerful that it bordered upon hurting your skin. The decor is the bathroom was extremely old fashioned the poor lighting made it very dingy.

However, breakfast was supposed to be served until 10am, but while in the middle of our fruit dish (9.40am - 9.45am) we were asked to get our hot food as they were clearing away. "I booked my room on-line, but on arrival the check in desk had no record of my booking. The problem was quickly and efficiently dealt with." (99425293)

    It was very clean.

There is a warning sign in the bathroom stating that the door must be closed when taking a shower, as the steam sets off the fire alarm! Perhaps an efficient extractor fan should be fitted which would prevent this?
