"There was no lift and 3 floors to climb (although at check in some help was offered), as I suffer with a bad back this would have been useful information. I only remained at the hotel as it was so close to the venue I needed to visit and I arrived late at night and needed to leave early each morning. The reception staff were helpful when asked a question. The availability of TV channels was unusual. The room was very small" (97313989)

    Nothing particularly

The room was a smoking room previously and smelled as such. The plumbing seemed to smell. The carpet was grubby looking. When decorated the accuracy of the painter left much to be desired. The tap on the sink was loose, there was no basin plug. The light above the mirror did not work. The bed had been repaired with a random piece of wood

"Not as particularly friendly experience for the lone traveller. " (107572838)

Check in staff friendly. Central location. Room fresh and clean.

Breakfast was poor. When I drew the servere's attention to the fact that people were having difficulty with the coffee jug - she merely shrugged. I suggested that a new one should be purchased. She said "NO, that is the way it is!" I ordered poached eggs, and one was not very politely placed in front of me in the middle of a large plate. I asked about toast. "It's on the table," I was curtly informed. It would have been helpful if she had told me I had to make it myself. The other observation is that the bar is appalling. perhaps that is your intention. But it would be better going the whole hog and being tee total than offering such a poor choice. I could not even get a full glass of wine!

Shower was full of mold. Freeview TV did not work. Told when booking I could perform interviews in their Dining Area but on the day they wanted " (107905543)

None really apart from central location.

Basically it was a B&B portrayede as a Hotel

"Didn't spend much time in the hotel but was quite happy with my stay. Good value for money." (97818667)

Hotel was well presented and clean with good in room facilities. Good breakfast options with friendly serving staff.

Reception staff were not very welcoming/friendly. Window in room did not "seal" properly so didn't shut out noise from the city centre outside.

"A comfortable and convenient hotel in a superb location, perfect as a base for a short stay in the city centre. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful throughout my stay and we're able to cater well for unusually early or late departures." (107261590)

Centrally located, clean and secure accommodation in the central area of Glasgow and with easy access to both railway stations, subway and local bus services.

Rooms can be noisy given the city centre/station location of the hotel.

The staff were all very helpful and polite.

The room was badly in need of decorating and the bathroom really needed cleaning properly!

"Excellent for location to the City but the hotel definitely needs bringing up to standard and be a little more professional in its operation, in my opinion." (108098828)

The Hotel is situated right in the heart of Glasgow and from that aspect is extremely convenient.

My room was basic but clean, however the shower did not have a fixing point on the wall so to wash you had to hold the shower head by hand which is a bit awkward when washing your hair. The light in the bathroom flickered on and off and had I have been using the bathroom more could have been a problem. The room was extremely hot even with windows left wide open. As you climbed the stairs of the hotel the heat met you. There was refurbishment work ongoing and so there was a smell of paint. The main landings were clean and tidy but because of complaints about the heat some side rooms had doors propped open and to be honest they were very messy, no direct effect but not nice to see behind doors you wouldn't normally see. Asked for an early morning call as I needed to be at the airport early and that never happened, good job my phone alarm woke me. On a plus note, the taxi I ordered was early.

"All in all, it was adequately poor and that is all, was very dissapointed in the hotels standard of cleanliness. Taking into account ongoing works, the cleanliness should have been kept to a much higher standard, not a lesser one! " (107108915)

The breakfast was quite good, but fresh fruit would have been better than tinned!

The general cleanliness of the hotel was not good! The hallways were not hoovered! The general cleanliness of the room was inadequate, and there was a bad damp smell! The windows had to be kep open the whole of the stay! The telephone never worked during the whole of the stay! The hairdryer did not work, but was repaired the 2nd day! The room had no bin in the main room, and was not cleaned for the duration of 2 night stay! No fans and no ice in the bar! And the shower took 10 mins to get the hot water thru, and was a slow trickle!

"I thought from the website the hotel might have been a bit more 'modern' than it turned out to be. The decor was very old-fashioned and it had a very old t.v- with no sky t.v which it said all rooms had on the website. There was no welcome pack in your bedroom. At one point I wanted to get some water but I didnt know how to call reception (or even if i could). I was also never asked when I checked out if i enjoyed my stay." (97180966)

    The heating was good.

I had the most uncomfortable night's sleep as the mattress was so hard and the plastic they use (to prevent damage to the bed)was under quite a thin sheet so it made a noise everytime you moved in bed. I was only given 1 pillow which was very thin. The T.V was also a disappointment, very old and the reception on 2 of the channels was a bit 'fuzzy'. It said on the website all the rooms had sky t.v but I only had 1 extra channel-which i wouldn't class as sky t.v.

"It was not easy to spot the hotel as there was scaffolding on the front of the building (I realise this was temporary) and no label on the door. The receptionist was not very friendly (may be a language issue) - but the other staff at breakfast were great. The room was comfortable and it was lovely to have an ensuite bathroom at that price. Breakfast was great - good choice of food and friendly staff. The big advantage of this hotel is its central position. It took a few minutes to get there from the station and there was easy access to the centre of town." (97841219)

The location was perfect. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and the food was good.

I only discovered at 6.30am that there was no kettle! I also had lots of insect bites on my legs. It would help to have a sign at the bottom of the stairs at the entrance to tell you where to go. It was offputting to open the door to an unlabelled building and be greeted by a flight of stairs. It would help to have something up to say that reception was at the top of the stairs. Maybe this is more obvious when the front of the building is scaffold free.

The breakfast redeemed most of the faults. Not a place to spend a lot of time in but fine if you have a busy schedule in Glasgow." (97888389)

"The location of the hotel couldn't be any more central - right in the heart of Glasgow and I think the room rate is reasonable for the location alone. Just don't expect anything great from the room or decor, it is in definite need of a major refurb. Having said that, there was lots of scaffolding up outside the hotel so maybe they have started what is going to be a long process! Good friendly staff, good breakfast, just a bit shabby." (97704239)

The Rennie Mackintosh theme must have been amazing when it was first opened with some great detail in the communal areas, such as art deco light fittings and wall hangings. Breakfast was also good.

The hotel is now very tired looking with tatty decor, mismatched old furniture and in my room in particular there were two holes in the bathroom door!

Very impressed with the breakfast. Fast service and nicely cooked. Good level of cleanliness.

There was NO hot water at all which considering that the bathroom had been recently done up, this was a big disappointment. In addition, the plunger of the sink lets water through so even heating up the water in the kettle had to be redone a number of times to finish shaving.

(99631299)

good value being in the city centre

didnt have a view from our room, room looked onto a wall of another building.although hotel said it had sky for every room it was in fact that if 1 room was watching something on sky then it was the same for the whole hotel.so infact it was that if you were watching a prog and somebody else requested a different prog then it would be switched.i felt that was annoying!!!!

Very clean room in overall, and especially the bathroom. Friendly atmosphere and especially in the breakfast time the personnel were very accommodating.

We had had to ask for our bed-sheet to be changed because it was not changed after the first night. The television had a very bad signal and we could not watch any program at all. Need to be done something about it. Where was the remote control? We could not find it.
